Concerns for Employee Stress

You're in charge of three teams of hardworking employees in a fast-paced work environment. You value your employees' well-being, but you also know that it's difficult to gauge their daily stress levels with so many of them to manage.

Discovering Stress Aware

Determined to find a proactive solution, you come across Stress Aware, a smartwatch monitoring system that automatically tracks stress levels without adding to your team's workload or stress levels. As an early adopter of new technology, you decide to invest in the 100% automatic smartwatch system, which you estimate to be around 70% cheaper when you factor in the value of your employees' time saved with automation.

Implementing Stress Aware

When the watches arrive, you distribute them to your teams and explain that all they have to do is log in to Stress Aware with a unique company and team code, and wear the watch while at work. The app provides real-time stress level data, but you stress that checking it is not required. As a manager, you can only see aggregate team data and won't single out individuals who may be experiencing stress.

Identifying Uneven Stress Levels

After three days, you review your team's stress levels on the app and notice that one team is slightly below normal and their stress levels are increasing. You investigate via. the analytics tools and discover an uneven distribution of stress in the team. You consider sending out a survey, but first, you check the anti-stress library and find a common problem under "uneven stress": Role ambiguity.

Pinpointing Role Ambiguity

You suspect that the recent retirement of a senior member with a strong voice may have left some ambiguity in the team. You send out a question to the team about Role ambiguity, and two out of eight members report that it has caused them some stress, while one reported high stress.

Finding a Cost-Effective Solution

Determined to find a solution, you explore the "Role ambiguity" problem and find a cost-effective solution: Clarify goals and milestones. You explain to your team how each ongoing task fits into the bigger picture and what criteria constitute successful execution, hoping everyone now to understand their role in the bigger picture.

Positive Results and Improved Well-being

Two days later, you check Stress Aware and find that your team's stress levels have decreased and are trending towards below-normal levels. Thanks to your proactive approach, you have identified and addressed a potential problem, improving your team's well-being and productivity.
